Sketches from Lakeville, MA

We just spent a wonderful week visiting my Aunt and cousins up in Lakeville, MA at their family cottage on Assawomset Pond (famous for its role in starting King Philip’s War) and at my Aunt’s homestead, which they just moved into last year. She already has a great vegetable garden going, and a promising beehive, not to mention a wood shop in the barn for my uncle. It’s a dream house and a dream life, and we were fortunate to get to live it for the week.

While there I got in a lot of sketching. Some highlights are below, and more are on my Flikr page here.

Glad you enjoyed your vacation and the farmhouse and lake. It was wonderful having you all here, especially when you so “get” what we’re trying to do. Have blanched and frozen 7 lbs more of green beans in the last couple of days and the cantaloupes just keep coming. Love the paintings.

All of you are welcome back any time.
    Love,
    Aunt Leslie

I am still amazed at the cantaloupes and the green beans. We are going to try both next year. Can’t wait to come back for another visit.

Sounds like a wonderful place, Corey. I especially like the sketch of the swan diving. …and the one looking through the doorway inside makes me feel like I’m looking over your shoulder. Good job!

Thanks! There is so much there I didn’t get to sketch this time. Fortunately I have a few good photos and memories to work from.
